As writers, we tend to continuously go through a series of phases that impact the way we pen down our thoughts. While this may be okay when you have to simply write for yourself, but in the world of professional writing, you seldom get the chance to put down free-flowing thoughts. Most of the times, you work with a client brief and are forced to channelise your thoughts in a particular direction. And it is during such times that every content writer goes through different challenges and experiences. Here are some of the things every content writer goes through:

“I just can’t relate to the topic”

Many a time it gets really difficult to write for a topic that we can barely relate to. For example, if a content writer is completely unfamiliar with intellectual property law in Canada or the type of drinking horns used by the Royals, then it can be a challenge to write a free-flowing, cohesive article on those lines. The writer will have to put in a tremendous amount of research to be able to understand the topic and then pen down their thoughts on the subject matter.

“I don’t know where to begin”

Content writers continuously write for certain a client on repetitive topics and this sometimes gets in the way of their ability to be creative. Imagine if you have written for a particular client over and over again, then it can get difficult to come up with different and interesting ways to begin a particular piece. This is a common problem with most clients that need repetitive content.

“I just can’t get to conclude this piece”

A content writer can probably go through this phase!

On the other hand, some content writers struggle to add a nice conclusion to their article. This is yet another facet of writing that they can improve upon. Sometimes it’s just a mental block and at other times a simple case of impatience and laziness. Whatever may be the case, a little bit of perseverance and creativity certainly help in getting rid of this issue.

“I just can’t seem to get the tone right”

Sometimes content writers face difficulties in getting the right tone. Every article that is written requires a certain tone depending on client requirements and audience preferences. Tones can vary from casual and conversational to formal and professional. If a particular writer is more comfortable with casual writing, then they might struggle to write a piece that requires formal writing.

“I feel thoroughly satisfied with my work”

Writers usually tend to be critical of their work but occasionally they do feel satisfied with what they have written. This is a rather rare scenario as far as writers are concerned, but, yes, surprisingly there are days when they do cherish their own work.

These were some of the things every writer goes through as they progress in their literary journey. Do you relate to any of the above thoughts? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
