Before businesses go big, before businesses become MNCs and before businesses start dolling out money, there was just one person. A lone entrepreneur trying to get an idea working and get a business rolling. When Apple first started in a garage, at least Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak could support each other. You, on the other hand, have to bare the burden on your own. Creating a successful business is just like climbing up a mountain. It is a step by step process which is very difficult and at every moment, part of you wants to call it quits and at times, you may have almost reached the peak. So how do you keep yourself motivated and continuously push yourself to not give up on your dream?
Here are a few tips.
Have Reasonable Goals
As an entrepreneur you will want your business to grow as fast as possible. However, the reality is building a business takes time and in the beginning, you will have to work on a one-customer basis. Don’t try to create goals on a broad basis, but try to be specific. Create a timeline of weekly and daily goals which will help you achieve your long term goals. Such a move will help you celebrate the small goals and keep you motivated.
Get into Action
No matter how much you sit down, think, run things over your mind and procrastinate, there is no substitute for real action. At times, you have to just get up and get to it; there is no way around it. This especially happens when you are down and out, due to a failed pitch or a financial rejection. When you think over and over-think negative situations for your business, you are just drowning yourself in negativity. The best way to pull yourself out of it, stop thinking and just act.
Reward Yourself
When you are an entrepreneur, often you’re quick to feel guilty, quick to blame yourself. Just as so, you should be quick to reward yourself when you achieve your goals. It may not seem like much, but such things always keep your spirits up. Buy yourself something, give your friends a treat or take a break – think which rewards you would like.
Inspiration
The world is full of ups and downs, but no matter what, it is always good to take inspirations from other successful business. The most important thing about an inspiration is that it tells you that what you are attempting to create is not impossible, that it can be done. From their stories, you can learn so much.
Keep your eye on the Apple
Through your ups and downs, you are going to face the difficulty of focusing on your dreams. Throughout you can never lose focus. It will take sheer will power to hold onto your dream and push yourself to stay motivate. There is no other way to say it, but your dream is yours and yours alone and only you can achieve it.
