If you are a writer, you will have days/week/ a lifetime of having to motivate yourself! Being a writer is NOT easy. It is fulfilling, emancipating *insert other big passionate words here* but it is NOT easy to turn a free-spirited, passion into a job with deadlines and time bound responsibilities. Often I find myself in the following situations. Feel free to laugh at my plight:D
A friend of mine recently typed out a deliciously well written piece of work that just struck a cord of interest inside me. While I tried not to get caught up picking out his unconventional pairing of words, I found myself uncontrollably grasping his idea.It was so effortless to see his train of thought and value his opinion.
Time flies when you’re not watching. A phone call transpired that gave way to employment and a year has passed since then. There are many words that can be used to describe employment at Spacebar… but for now, the word that comes to mind is Acceptance.
So, it’s nowhere close to New Year’s Eve and you are no where close to meeting even half your resolutions. You’re still wearing the same size jeans and you’re still best friends with chocolate! But if there is one thing that won’t leave your mind, it is the fact that you haven’t written anything worth reading (or anything at all), in the past few months!
In the cacophony of deadlines, phone calls, emails, to-do’s, meetings, reviews and what nots, it just dawned on me last week that I wasn’t doing what I wanted to do most – WRITE! And that just can’t be fair when the whole reason I started a content solutions firm was because I love to write! “There is obviously something insanely wrong in the way I’m scheduling my days.” I thought.
There comes a time when we have to conduct research. It could be for a school project, a presentation or a report that you have to submit. Back in the day, research was a strenuous process. It meant hitting the library and diving into books, journals and newspaper – a true hunt for information. Today, you don’t have to hit the library, but that does not mean researching is fun, for most of us at least, it’s still a bore. The internet is our research haven, a one-stop spot. So how do you get done with this cumbersome and tiresome process quickly?
