But this time, I am going to talk about some more grammatical errors made by many freelancers and agencies providing content writing services.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Without further ado, let&#8217;s look at the next set of mistakes.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1. Me or I?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most common blunder people make is confusing me with I and using them at wrong places. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Correct:<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Jenny and I joined the chess club.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Incorrect:<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Jenny and me joined the chess club.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Correct:<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Jill took Justin and me to the shop.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Incorrect:<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Jill took Justin and I to the shop.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No, these words can&#8217;t be used interchangeably! Here&#8217;s how you need to get yourself right with these pronouns:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use the pronoun \u2018I\u2019 along with other subjective pronouns such as we, he, she, you, and they, when the pronoun is the subject.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Example:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Aman and I went for a movie.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use the pronoun \u2018me\u2019 along with other objective pronouns such as us, him, her, you, and them, when the pronoun is the object.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Example:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The dog followed me.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>HINT:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> If you\u2019re having trouble deciding which one to use in a particular sentence with two subjects or objects linked with \u2018and,\u2019 take out the other subject or object. (<\/span><b>Example: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Me joined the chess club or Jill took I to the shop)<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2. Saddening Semicolons<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the training we receive in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/spacebar.in\/contentious-old\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spacebar, the firm that believes in quality content writing services<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, there are three types of people who use semicolons in their writing:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">#1: Those who hardly know the meaning of this punctuation mark and highly refrain from using it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">#2: Those who slightly understand what it means, but believe in using it religiously.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">#3: Those who know exactly what a semicolon is meant for and use it just the way it is intended to be.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sadly, the number of people belonging to type #2 is very high. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don&#8217;t fret if you, too, fall under type #2. Just understand that semicolons are used to connect two independent clauses that could stand on their own but have a connecting thread. Dash Dilemma<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another dashing mistake that most people make is confusing en dash and em dash. &#8220;-&#8221; is the shorter en dash, and &#8220;\u2014&#8221; or &#8220;&#8211;&#8221; are both longer and versions of the em dash.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just remember,<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The en dash connects things that are related to each other by a distance. <\/span><b>Example:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> I&#8217;ll be unavailable from May-September. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is also used when you wish to represent a number range or differentiation. <\/span><b>Example:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> That will take 10-20 minutes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The em dash can be used to set off quotation sources. <\/span><b>Example:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2018To be, or not to be, that is the question.&#8217; \u2014 Shakespeare.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The em dashes are particularly useful in a sentence that is long and complex or in one that has a number of commas within it. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It may also be used to write interrupted speech or conversation. <\/span><b>Example:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201cI wasn\u2019t trying to imply\u2014\u2014\u201d \u201cThen just what were you trying to do?\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4. Who or Whom?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Follow (and memorise maybe) the simple thumb rule, \u201cwho\u201d refers to the subject of a sentence; \u201cwhom\u201d refers to the object. Whom is usually used to describe someone who&#8217;s receiving something.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Example:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Who do you think stole my cap?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whom did we hire to join the podcast team?<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">5. Less or Fewer Errors?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Well, this one&#8217;s simple! Use fewer with countable nouns; use less with uncountable nouns.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Example:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cookie Monster was told to eat fewer cookies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cookie Monster was told to drink less milk.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Less is also used with numbers when they are on their own and with expressions of measurement or time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Example:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Their marriage lasted less than two years.<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/l0MYPMcmggsy7i51e\/source.gif\" alt=\"content writing services\" width=\"650\" height=\"488\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">How lucky of me to know this!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Image source:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/l0MYPMcmggsy7i51e\/source.gif\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/l0MYPMcmggsy7i51e\/source.gif<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6. Non-parallel Not Only&#8230; But Also<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By parallelism, I mean that the words following both parts of this correlative conjunction (i.e., not only and but also) should belong to the same parts of speech. So if a verb follows \u2018not only,\u2019 another verb SHOULD follow \u2018but also\u2019 as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Example:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Correct:<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> She\u2019s not only beautiful but also very smart. (beautiful and smart both are adjectives)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Incorrect:<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> She\u2019s not only beautiful but also a singer. (beautiful is an adjective, and a singer is a noun)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Correct:<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> She\u2019s not only a model but also a singer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>NOTE: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You shouldn&#8217;t use a comma with not only&#8230;but also, unless you want to show emphasis on the second part of the sentence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Example:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When writing, Diana considers not only her topic, but also her audience.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">7. Dangling Modifiers, Duh!<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Writers providing various content writing services come across this issue when they run their articles through <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/spacebar.in\/contentious-old\/blogs\/5-best-grammar-tools-for-you\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">various grammar checking tools<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The name itself sounds like a dramatic situation! This mistake happens when a descriptive phrase doesn&#8217;t apply to the noun that immediately follows it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, either name the appropriate or logical doer of the action as the subject of the main clause or change the phrase that dangles into a complete introductory clause.
