If you want to boost your website’s rank or increase your web traffic, then you need to create SEO-friendly content. When users search for your content, it’s important that your website content is featured in the search results. In fact, you want your content to be featured on the first page of the search result. This is because 90% of users don’t go beyond the first page. Once users visit your website and find your content useful, they may approach your business. As a result, you end up getting leads for your business. So, whether you are involved in B2C or B2B content marketing, it’s important you create content keeping the SEO factor in mind. To help you create SEO-friendly content, here’s what you should be doing.

Research Keywords

The first step is to identify the keywords that your audience uses on search engines. To identify the keywords, there are many tools available online. However, since Google is the most-used search engine, it is recommended that you use Google Keyword Planner. With the help of this tool, you get recommendations for similar keyword terms that people are using. For example, if you type “accounting services”, then you will get a list of accounting services-related keywords such as “accounting services India”, “accounting services Delhi”, “types of accounting services”, etc. Ideally, there are two types of keywords- short-term keywords (which are quite generic such as “accounting services”) and long-term keywords (which are quite specific to a particular audience such as “accounting services for corporates in Mumbai”)

Select Topics and Add Keywords

The next step is to create content that interest your users. For instance, if the audience is searching for “types of accounting services”, then you should create content based on this topic. Similarly, for a dental clinic, if people are searching “difference between Invisalign and braces”, then you should create such content. Once you decide your topic, create content and add the relevant keywords in your content. However, do not make the mistake of adding too many keywords. For the content of 500 words, a keyword should be used around 3-5 times. You may also decide to add more than one keyword in your content especially when the two keywords are similar to each other like “difference between Invisalign and braces” and “distinguish between Invisalign and braces.

Apart from adding keywords in your content, add them in your meta description and title tags as well. However, there is a limit of how many words can be added in the meta description and title tag cannot be too long as well. Hence, be careful that you make proper use of keywords in the limited range available to you.

Optimize Images

Imagine you are reading content that has no visuals elements like GIFs or images. Looks boring to read the entire content, isn’t it? No matter how good your content is, you need to add images or GIFs to make it more appealing. Therefore, when you add images, see to it that they are optimized. The alt tag option that appears when you upload the images should include your selected keywords. Furthermore, add a title and a small description about the images.

Add Links

There are two types of links –internal links and external links. Internal links are adding links to content within your website while external links mean providing links to the content outside of your website. See to it that you do not miss out on internal linking. If one of your webpages gets featured in the search results, then the internal link allows search engine spiders to crawl through the other internally linked webpages. The search engines can then index multiple webpages in your website that are linked to each other. As a result, your website’s rank improves.

When you add internal links, make sure the anchor text is relevant to the information on the linked webpage. For example, if the anchor text includes “avoid heart ailments”, then your linked webpage should talk about how to avoid heart ailments. Your visitors will move out of your website should they find your internal link irrelevant. This will increase your bounce rate and your website rank can get affected. Therefore, add relevant links.

Once you have created your SEO-friendly content, publish and share it through your social media accounts. You will see a rise in your web traffic once you start creating quality SEO-friendly content for your B2C or B2B content marketing. The key to improving your website ranking is to create content on a regular basis and working on the same keywords for a specific period of time. This means you need to spend enough time in creating new topics and content based on your selected keywords. Moreover, you need to have the right skills to write great blog content for your target. Therefore, instead of shifting your focus from your core activity and spending more time on creating quality content, it’s best to get in touch with a professional content marketing firm who will help you create SEO-friendly content irrespective of the nature of your business.
